In 2017, the Diocese of Venice in Florida purchased a beautiful church from Ave Maria University with the goal of turning it into a diocesan parish to better meet the spiritual needs of the fastest growing community in southwest Florida. This established Ave Maria Catholic Church as a diocesan parish but also left the community with debt. Parish leadership knew that a capital campaign was needed to reduce debt and address much-needed renovations, including roof repairs, ceiling and wall repairs and painting. Initially, Ave Maria Catholic Church hired another fundraising firm to run a feasibility study. But the parish partnered with the Steier Group for the Our Home, His House, Our Children’s Future Capital Campaign. This faith family joined together to raise more than $2.5 million to service debt and update a beautiful church.
