Diocese of Des Moines

This was a pivotal moment for the Diocese of Des Moines in Iowa as leadership made the decision to invest in a sustainable future for Catholic school students, seminarians, aging priests and many ministry and parish needs. Entering into a new strategic plan for regional Catholic education meant engaging the entire community to invest, and the diocese needed a partner that could activate supporters effectively across the various parishes, schools and organizations under its care. The Diocese of Des Moines engaged the Steier Group to create a tailored campaign, starting with a campaign planning study, that understood the needs and how to effectively communicate those needs to the greater community.

With the help of expert counsel, planning and execution, Ignite! A Life. A Church. A Community Capital Campaign exceeded the low-end goal, raising over $37 million. The diocese is now able to fund the bold vision for Catholic schools to offer both academic excellence and faith-based education that is accessible, provide additional funds to support priestly formation, care for retired priests, invest in the capital needs of parishes while assisting to create and enhance parish renewal and vibrancy programs and develop current and future leaders in the church.
