THE CHALLENGE
In 1981, a fire forced Holy Infant Catholic Church to worship at a local school. To bring the parish closer together, leadership organized the seats in a semi-circular fashion during this period at the school. This non-traditional seating arrangement remained when the parish returned to their rebuilt church and that unity has helped the parish grow as a community. Now, that growth represents a challenge to the parish – they have simply outgrown their current building and Masses are standing-room only.
THE VISION
After much planning and deliberation, leaders at Holy Infant voted to move forward with the construction of a new church. Priorities included:
- Building a new, right-size church that maintained the semi-circular seating arrangement.
- Converting the current worship space into a social hall.
- Expanding current classrooms and meeting spaces.
- Reconfiguring the parking lot to adjust for the new church.
- Adding a meditation garden, playground and more outdoor spaces.
THE SOLUTION
Holy Infant Catholic Church hired the Steier Group to conduct a capital campaign to build this new house of worship. With a customized approach suited to this close-knit community, the communications for this campaign emphasized the unity of the parish and the importance of improving the worship space for a growing parish. Parishioners rallied around the goal and look forward to the project’s completion.
